Q: What delivery methods are available?
In order to offer you the lowest possible price, we use the most cost effective delivery service, depending on your specific order. To figure out the delivery time for your order, add processing time + delivery time. Processing for normal in stock orders is 1 business day, but most orders received before 3:00 pm CST will ship on the same day. If you need your order by a certain date, it is best to call us in advance to ensure your products will arrive in time.

Yes, we will gladly accept your organization’s purchase order. We ask that POs be faxed or mailed on your company’s PO form. If you do not have a special form, you may use company letter head. Please be sure to include billing, shipping, and contact information.

Q: How do I calculate shipping for a purchase order? (Also applies to mail orders)
Unless otherwise specified by us, shipping should be calculated as follows:
$3.95 for the 1st item + $1.00 each additional item.
Example: if you order 6 items, total shipping is $8.95.

Q: How do I know that my information is secure?
We use SSL (Secure Socket Layers), the most advanced online ordering security system available. When you place an order online, all of your personal information- including your credit card information- is encrypted by SSL. That means, it cannot be intercepted, it’s safe!
Q: Do you sell, rent, or give away my email address?
Never! We ask for your email address so we can contact you if there are any questions or errors with your order, so please make sure it is correct! You will not receive SPAM from us, but occasionally we send out emails to our customers with sales or special offers. At any time you can subscribe (or unsubscribe) by clicking the link below.
Q: How do I know if this software will work on my computer?
First, you will need to know what Operating System is on the computer you will be installing the software on (ex: Windows 98, or Mac OS 9.2). In Windows, this information can be found under the “General” tab in the “System” section of your Control Panel. When browsing through the products on the Smart Kids Software website, you can see compatible Operating Systems to the right of the Product Title. If your Operating System is not listed, the software will more than likely not work.
Most of our products WILL NOT work with Windows XP Media Center, because of the way the Operating System was made.

WIN7(32 Bit). When a new Operating System comes out, it takes time and money for Publishers to catch up, and to tweak a product to work with the new system.

Q: I have a brand new state of the art computer with all the bells & whistles, why does the software not work?
It does not matter how advanced a computer is, but how the software was made. A software program was written during a time when there was only a certain set of Operating Systems out. Software developers could not take into consideration what future Operating Systems would be like. If an older program works on a newer Operating System, it is by chance. We list compatible Operating Systems for our products, because each is different.
Q: Do you offer technical support?
If you are having problems installing and playing your software, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to weed out a simple issue.
- Double check our website to see if your Operating System is listed as compatible.
- Check the shiny side of the CD, do you see and dust, debris, or scratches?
- Wash the CD under tap water and dry COMPLETELY with a clean cotton towel.
If none of these suggestions work, you can call our tech support line. We can help with basic troubleshooting, but may refer you to the publisher for further support.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
Q: What is the Return/Exchange Policy?
In most situations, you may return a product within 30 days of order date, as long as the product is in new re-sellable condition.
- Contact us before sending a product back, to make sure that the process is done correctly and that you are refunded properly.
- A copy of your packing slip must be included with the product, along with the reason for return/exchange.
In most situations, you may return a product within 30 days of order date, for a full refund of the product price (less shipping). Product must be in new re-sellable condition, and in their original packaging.
Partial Refunds will be issued for the following items:
- Most items that are returned more than 30 days after delivery.
- Any item that has obvious signs of use.
- Any product that has been opened/taken out of its plastic wrap. (If you discover that the item is defective* after the package is opened, a refund or replacement may still be granted.)
- Any item not returned in the condition it was received.
If you would like to exchange an item for a different one, please return the original item to our P.O. Box. Once we receive the item, you will be refunded your original purchase price less shipping costs, as long as the item meets return guidelines as listed above. Then, you may place another order for the item you wish to purchase.
If you have received an item that is defective*, and need to exchange it for the same item, please contact us for further instruction on how to exchange.
Q: What if the product is defective?
*Please note: The problem is not usually that software is defective, but that the software is incompatible with the operating system you are attempting to install it on. Defective does NOT mean that the product will not run on your operating system. We list compatible operating systems for all of our products, if yours is not listed, we make no guarantee that the product will work for you. Therefore, if it does not work- we are not at fault, and you will receive a partial credit. In this case, we will also not exchange it for another of the same product- because it will not work on your operating system. If the product is indeed compatible with your operating system, but you cannot get it to work, please call us for further technical support or instruction.
Q: How should I send a product back to you?
In the event that you feel you need to return or exchange an item, please contact us within 10 days of receiving your order. Method of shipping a product back to us will vary case by case. Please keep in mind Shipping and handling charges for returning items are borne by the buyer. To ensure the safe return of the merchandise, we suggest that you return any item valued at over $75 with a tracking number such as that offered by UPS. If the order is valued at $100 or more, we suggest that you insure the shipment for the value of the merchandise. You may wish to use USPS delivery confirmation service for items of lesser value to show delivery. We cannot give you a refund if we have not received your return, please use a tracking method to ensure that your product gets to us.
For Toys & Games
If upon opening a toy or game, you find that the product is missing pieces, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer for replacement parts. If you find that a toy or game is not working, please check to see if batteries are needed. If so, make sure that you have new batteries of the correct size, installed correctly. If the product is still not working, you should call the manufacturer for further technical assistance, or possibly a replacement product.
Q: Can we resell your products?
Smart Kids Software is a reseller, at this time we do not produce or distribute our own products.

Q: Do you have a Product Catalog?
Our catalog is our website. Due to the nature of this industry, we are constantly changing and adding new products. It is not environmentally friendly to print a catalog each time information changes. Smart Kids Software is proud to say that we do not waste paper printing our catalog.
Q: Are all of your products new?
Q: How can you offer products at such a discount?
We have a long and strong relationship with the Publishers & Distributors that we work with, which allows us to buy our products in bulk at a discount.
Q: If the software is new, why is it in a paper envelope?
Since most software is not sold in retail stores anymore, it is more cost effective for the Publishers and Distributors, to bundle cd-roms together in sleeves. Doing this, they save on materials, production, and shipping to us. In turn, this allows them to offer their products at a greater discount to us, which we then pass on to you!
Q: Why did my software not come with a user’s manual, or instructions?
As explained above, software is produced and sold differently, now that it is rarely sold in retail stores. If there is any important information needed to play the game, the publisher will put it in a “Read-Me” file on the disc. It is also more environmentally friendly to not print manuals, especially if it is not necessary to play the game.

Smart Kids Software has been selling educational software since 1992 when it was a local store. The Smart Kids Software website was born in 1997, when internet shopping began increasing in popularity.
