This morning for breakfast, you’re having cocoa,
eggs, bacon, cereal, and a Scrambled Word! You unscramble the letters of the
word. The program is run by selecting Scrambled Word from the main menu screen.
The game uses all the words from your word list, in a random fashion. You play
the game until all words have been used or until you click Stop. Clicking Help
or pressing
will bring up this screen of information.
For each word, you’ll see the letters being scrambled
up in a pan. To stop the scrambling, click on the Stop sign. At this point,
the letters of the word are shown mixed up - you unscramble the word by selecting
its letters in order. You can press the letters on the keyboard to spell the
word or use the mouse (just click on the desired letter). You are given three
tries to spell each word. Clues are given with the first two incorrect tries
(along with an ‘uhoh’ sound). The fewer tries you need to spell a word, the
more points you score. After spelling the word correctly or after using your
three tries, the correct word spelling is given to you. Click Next Word to go
to the next word in the list.
The Scrambled Word screen also shows you how
many words are left in the list and your current score. Once you have finished
Scrambled Word (either by trying all words in the list or stopping the game),
your score will be given to you and a list of the words you had trouble with
will be provided. At this point, you will be returned to the Spelling Games
main menu. Here, you can play another game, load another word list, or Exit
the program.
Mixed Case Lists: If you use the mouse to enter
your answers, Scrambled Word will convert your response to the proper case.
If you type in the answers from the keyboard, the typed letters must be of proper
case to receive credit for a correct answer.
