Kids (5-9 years) love Treasure Mathstorm! A nicely animated enhanced version provides kids with a basic, arcade-style math problem-solving adventure--one which kids never seem to tire of! Best of all, it seems to emphasize real-world skills, including counting money and making change.
Children become Super Seekers as they scramble up the wintery, snow-laden Treasure Mountain in search of treasures and super math puzzles to help rescue the mountain from the Master of Mischief, who has cast an icy spell on the mountain. This program, perfect for home or the classroom, helps kids build their math, money-counting, time telling (analog and digital) and critical thinking skills.
There are plenty of elves to capture with nets, clocks to set, scales to balance and crystals to count in Treasure Mountain's magical land where math rules. Of course, it's up to your child to keep track of the money bag and net counter to make sure he or she doesn't run out of money or nets. There's a convenient store on each of the three mountain paths where kids must make up the exact change to buy needed items.
One of our favorite activities is The Time Igloo, where kids are asked to match a digital clock to a cuckoo clock (or vice versa). It's an excellent time-telling activity for kids and great money-earning game!
The goal in Treasure Mathstorm! is to unearth the treasures hidden beneath the snow to take them to the castle. Of course, it's not easy getting up the mountain--kids dodge snowbullies--flying snowballs--while having some major mathematical fun!
Teachers enjoy this program because kids there are two ways to play this software--drill and practice (addition, subtraction and multiplication) and problem solving math questions. Also, you can customize many different options and games, including six different math levels which can be adjusted (manually or automatically) to the player's abilities.
Kids are motivated to keep playing this game--partially due to the treasure counter at the bottom of the screen which keeps track of the total number of treasures they have found. Kids earn a rank from Trainee (0) to Champion (450) depending on how many points they've earned by playing the math games.
