FACES 4.0 EDU Lesson Plan
Overview:
Students will use "FACES 4.0 EDU" forensic software program to learn observational skills that can be critical in increasing personal awareness and safety, while at the same time developing their artistic gifts, in an entertaining way.
Objective:
Students will:
1. Learn the history of composite draWings to aid in an investigation where evidence is scant and the perpetrator unknown.
2. Learn the history of the develpment of "FACES 4.0 EDU"
3. Learn and be able to navigate the composite creating aspects of "FACES 4.0 EDU"
4. Learn and be able to apply the observational skills required to create a successful composite.
Materials:
1. Computer with appropriate operating system
2. "FACES 4.0 EDU" program
3. Ink jet or laser printer
4. Bond paper with a high quality durable bond paper similar to bank paper but having a weight greater than 50 g/m.
5. DraWing & Sketching Pencils
Set Up and Preparation:
1. Install "FACES 4.0 EDU" on the appropriate computer.
2. Create a test sketch and print out a copy to determine that the printer settings are correct.
3. Print and make copies for each student of the "History of composite draWings" pdf.
4. Print and make copies for each student of the "History of composite draWings" test pdf.
5. Print and make copies for each student of the "History of the development of FACES 4.0 EDU" pdf.
6. Print and make copies for each student of the "History of the development of FACES 4.0 EDU" test pdf.

Directions for 12 week semester:
Week 1: History of composite draWings
Week 2: History of the develpment of "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 3: Basic functions of "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 4: Extended functions of "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 5: Creating the initial facial shape on "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 6: Creating the matching hair style with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 7: Determining the appropiate nose with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 8: Determining the appropiate ears with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 9: Determining the appropiate eyes with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 10: Adding the details with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 11: Practice sessions with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Week 12: Competition in creating composite sketches with "FACES 4.0 EDU"
Supporting activities:
Students can work in teams of two or more. One student could be the subject and the other students could create the composite sketch.
The students could see who creates the funniest composite sketch.
The student could create composite sketches of their favorite person in the public view (movie star, musician, TV personality, ect).
The students could create composite sketches of their teachers and the school could give awards for the best.
